Parallel tasks and remote access
Claude Code and Codex on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, several agents at once in their own worktrees, sub-agents, and access from your phone or another computer over Tailscale.
Engines: LEVEL11, Claude Code, Codex
Pick the engine per session at the bottom of the agent panel.
| Engine | Billing | Sign-in |
|---|---|---|
| LEVEL11 | Your LEVEL11 account (plan usage) or your own API key | LEVEL11 account |
| Claude Code | Your Claude Pro, Max or Team plan, or your Anthropic Console organization's API credits | The Claude Code CLI's browser sign-in |
| Codex | Your ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Business plan | The Codex CLI's ChatGPT sign-in |
Connect Claude Code and Codex under Settings → Run with my subscription.
- If the CLI is missing, press Install. Claude Code installs with Anthropic's official installer; Codex installs into a folder of LEVEL11's own. No commands to type.
- Press Sign in. The sign-in command runs in the terminal panel and opens a browser window. Claude Code offers Sign in with Claude plan and Sign in with API credits (Console), and you can switch between them later.
Passwords and tokens stay with each CLI; LEVEL11 stores none of them. External-engine sessions keep modes (Chat, Builder, Auto-Run), approvals, changed-file tracking and worktrees.
- Claude Code: in Builder mode, edits inside the working folder go through and commands ask in LEVEL11's approval card. Read-only commands are allowed by Claude Code itself. Chat mode refuses edits and commands.
- Codex: limited by its sandbox instead of approvals. Chat is read-only, Builder may write the working folder (no network), Auto-Run may write and use the network.
Parallel tasks
Open Parallel tasks (Start screen or the + next to the tabs) to hand one request to several engines at once.
- Describe the task and pick one or more engines. With several engines, each runs the same task separately.
- Own worktree each is the default: every task gets a Git worktree under
~/.level11/worktrees/<project>/<name>on alevel11/<name>branch, so agents editing at the same time never overwrite each other. Outside a Git repository tasks share the folder. - Tasks move across the board: Running → Ready for review → Done. Show changes opens per-file diffs; Merge the result you want and Clean up the rest.
Merging commits whatever is left in the worktree, then merges the branch into the checked-out branch with --no-ff. On conflicts the merge is aborted and you are told; resolve them in the worktree and merge again.
Sub-agents
An agent can start other agents and split the work itself. For example:
Give the login screen and the sign-up screen to two sub-agents, each in its own worktree, and have Codex implement them once more for comparison. Summarize the results when they are done.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
spawn_agent |
Start a sub-agent (engine, worktree or shared folder, mode) |
list_agents |
Status, branch, changed files and last reply of the sub-agents you started |
wait_for_agent |
Wait for a sub-agent to finish and get its result |
message_agent |
Send a follow-up to an idle sub-agent |
stop_agent |
Stop a sub-agent's current turn |
Available on the LEVEL11 and Claude Code engines. A sub-agent never runs in a higher mode than its parent (from Builder it cannot become Auto-Run), and an agent runs at most six sub-agents at once. Chat mode can only list and wait. Turn the tools off per agent with Run sub-agents in the agent builder.
Remote access (Tailscale)
See and steer this computer's agents from your phone or another computer. LEVEL11 runs no relay: devices connect only over your Tailscale network (tailnet), and Tailscale's sign-in (Google, Microsoft, GitHub, Apple, SSO) decides who is on it.
- Install Tailscale on this computer and your phone and sign in with the same account.
- Under Settings → Remote access, check Turn on remote access. It listens on the Tailscale address only by default, port 7311.
- Scan the QR code with your phone camera to use the existing browser remote page. For native pairing, task review and notifications, see iPhone and iPad. Pick a project, hand out a new task, or open a session to follow it, send follow-ups, stop it and approve.
In LEVEL11 on another computer, paste the pairing link into Remote hosts. Keep a desktop at home or the office, a dev server or a cloud VM as the host: agents, worktrees and files stay there while your laptop hands out tasks, chats and approves.
Security
- The QR and pairing link contain a single-use code that expires after five minutes. Pairing issues a separate token to each device. Do not share the link; revoke unused devices in desktop settings. Revocation also closes their open connections immediately.
- Remote clients can only use projects opened on this computer (current and recent).
- Tailscale connections require a ready HTTPS certificate. A certificate failure never falls back to plaintext. HTTP addresses under All networks are unencrypted; use them with care. The release iOS app only accepts HTTPS connections.
- Tasks started remotely follow the same modes and approvals.
